YES, JESUS IS ALMIGHTY GOD
This is written to prove from the Holy Scriptures that Jesus is the Almighty; that He is of the Trinity (the one God in
three Persons: the Father, the Son, and Holy Ghost); that He always existed as God and always will be God. This
document is written to equip Christians with the Bible verses that prove that Jesus is Almighty God. The truth that
Jesus is Almighty God is denied by Jehovah Witnesses, Mormons, Unitarians, Christian Science members, Muslims,
New Agers, Hindus, Taoists, Buddhists, Luciferians, etc. Some of the people involved in these false belief systems
may tell you that they believe Jesus is God, but they are playing word games; they do not believe He is the Almighty;
they believe Jesus was just a man who lived such an exemplary life that he was eventually elevated above men to the
place of a god. (Many of these religions believe that we can all become gods.)
Some of the false religions of today have their roots in the ancient movements of Gnosticism and Arianism.
Gnosticism emerged soon after the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Gnostics rejected belief in the Trinity. They believed
that Jesus was a mere man, a created being, who perfected himself until he was a suitable habitation for “the Christ
consciousness.” They believed that this “Christ consciousness” was not a person, but an entity called “the Christ”
which came on the man Jesus at his baptism and left Jesus before His resurrection. They did not believe that God
came to this earth in a body of flesh so that He could shed His blood and die for the sins of mankind. Another false
belief that arose about the same time was called Arianism. Arianism is the belief that Jesus Christ was the first
created being and that God used Jesus as His helper in the creation. Arians believe in more than one god; they believe
that Jesus was a lesser god than the Almighty. Arians and Gnostics did not believe that Jesus was one of the Trinity;
they did not believe that He existed as God in eternity past. Some men who held the false beliefs (heresies) of
Gnosticism and Arianism took a few copies of the word of God (the early manuscripts of the Holy Bible) and rewrote
them to make them read as though Jesus was not truly the eternal God. (The Apostle Paul told the Christians in II
Corinthians 2:17 that those who would change God’s Word were already at work: even in Paul’s day there were
those who were corrupting copies of the word of God.) Some of these corrupted manuscripts were found centuries
later and have been incorporated into modern versions of the Bible.
The Authorized Version of 1611 [also known as the AV 1611 or King James Bible (KJB) or King James Version
(KJV)] is the only Bible available in English today that has not been translated from nor influenced by corrupted
manuscripts. The AV 1611 is the Bible of the men who wrote the Constitution; it is the Bible of Abraham Lincoln; it
has no copyright; it has been freely copied into the masonry of our early government buildings and the Liberty Bell.
For years it was simply known as “The Holy Bible.” In these modern days of multiple versions, we call it “The King
James Version” in order to avoid confusion. (King James of England did not translate but only authorized the
translation.) The King James Bible is the first printed English Bible to be translated directly from the Greek and
Hebrew without men’s opinions added in the margins. Its translators rejected the manuscripts which were corrupted
by those who denied the Trinity. Modern versions, however, are based on the corrupted manuscripts. Modern
versions may be easier to read, but they are not trustworthy. It is important that people use the King James Bible and
ask God to open their understanding (Luke 24:45).
Old Testament. The Old Testament tells us that there is one Almighty God who alone is Creator, Judge, and
Saviour, and that this one true God exists in three Persons: The Father, the Son and the Spirit., with each of these
Persons being co-equal in power, nature, and glory; each of these Persons is from everlasting, without beginning or
end, without change, and without sin. No other God has ever existed nor ever will exist.
Genesis 1:1,26 Verse 1 says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” Verse 26 says, “And God
said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness…” We see that God is the Creator and that He says, “Let us
make man…” The Creator is one God, but in three Persons. Just as a triangle is one object with three different
angles, our God is one God in three Persons (the Trinity). He is Triune.
Psalms 2:11-12 The psalmist David knew that God’s Son was the LORD and Judge. David said, “Serve the LORD
with fear, and rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is
kindled but a little. Blessed are they that put their trust in him.” [David wrote these words long before Jesus came to
earth to be born in a manger; David knew that the Son existed in David’s day (for Jesus has always existed), and
David recognized that He was the Judge before whom we should tremble but that those who put their trust in Him
would be blessed. See also Psalms 7:11 where David declares that the Judge is God.]
Isaiah 7:14 The prophet Isaiah wrote these words 700 years before our Saviour’s birth in Bethlehem: “Therefore,
the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name
Immanuel.” [The virgin’s child was to be called Immanuel which means “God with us” (see Matthew 1:23). He is
called “God with us,” because the Almighty God came to this earth in a body of flesh (the Babe in the manger) to
shed His blood for our sins.]
Isaiah 9:6 Isaiah prophesied 700 years before the birth of Christ in the manger that the child born would be “The
mighty God.” Isaiah said, “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his
shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of
Peace.” Those who know their English grammar know that the statement that follows a colon refers to the statement
that precedes the colon. Therefore, the meaning of the verse is that the child that is born is indeed the Almighty God—
and at the same time, He is the Everlasting Father. This is only possible because God is a Trinity. The Triune
Godhead (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost) is one God. This verse proves the Trinity, and it proves that
Jesus, the Prince of Peace is The mighty God.
Isaiah 44:24 “Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that
maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself.” The LORD
made the heavens and earth by Himself---he had no helper. [Those who claim that Jesus is only the helper of the
Creator are wrong, because God had no helper. Jesus is the Creator (John 1:1-3; Ephesians 3:9; Hebrews 1:1-3).]
This verse also says that the one who created the heavens and earth is the Redeemer. (Jesus Christ is the one who
obtained our redemption. He is the Redeemer: Hebrews 9:12 says, “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but
by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”)
Isaiah 48:12-17 Each Person of the Triune Godhead is seen here in this Old Testament passage: “Hearken unto me,
O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the first, I am also the last. Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of
the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens.: when I call unto them, they stand up together….I, even I,
hath spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous. Come ye near unto
me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the
Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.” Note the one God in three Persons: the “first and the last” who is speaking
is one Person (verse 12 through the beginning of verse 16), the Lord GOD (verse 16) is a different Person, and his
Spirit (verse 16) is the third Person. [The “first and the last” is Jesus Christ (see Revelation 1:17-18)].
Jeremiah 23:5-6 The LORD will raise up a righteous Branch and King who will execute judgment and justice; He
will be called THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. He is called this name because He came to provide us sinners
with His own righteousness. No person has the righteousness needed to enter heaven, because we have all sinned.
Jesus came to take our sins upon Himself and to give us His perfect righteousness. Those who receive Him as Lord
and Saviour are given the righteousness of God Himself. That is why He is called THE LORD OUR
RIGHTEOUSNESS. Romans 10:3-4 says that people do not understand that they must stop trying to establish
themselves as righteous before God; instead, they should submit to Jesus Christ and receive His righteousness: “For
they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted
themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that
believeth.” (See Romans 3:21,22; 5:18,19; and II Corinthians 5:21).
Micah 5:2 [This scripture was written 700 years before the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. The scripture prophesies
that the Ruler, who is from everlasting, would come from Bethlehem. Only God is from everlasting (Psalms 90:2; 93:
2); therefore, Jesus is God. He has always existed. He was not created. He is God and was God in eternity past.]
“But thou, Bethlehem, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me
that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from old, from everlasting.”
New Testament- the New Testament tells the good news (the gospel) of how God came to this earth to be our
Saviour. He took on a human body to take our place in judgment; it was God’s blood that was shed on the cross for
our sins.
Matthew 1:21-23 The Child is to be called JESUS---He will save from sin; the Child will be called Emmanuel which
means “God with us.”
Matthew 28:19 Jesus told the disciples to baptize “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Ghost.” If Jesus wasn’t God, why did He categorize Himself with and between the Father and Holy Ghost?
John 1:1-17 The Gospel of John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the
Word was God.” This verse proves that we have one God in more than one person, and one of those persons is
called the Word. Verse 3 says “all things were made by him (the Word)” which declares that the Word created all
things and therefore was the Creator. John 1:4,5,6,9 prove that the Word was Jesus: He is called the Light in those
verses, and Jesus was the Light of the world; in verses 10-11 the Word was rejected by His own people, and Jesus
was rejected by His own people; verse 14 says that the Word came to this earth in body of flesh: “The Word was
made flesh and dwelt among us…” In verse 17 John reveals the name of the Word: Jesus Christ. Jesus is the
Word; He is God who came to earth in the flesh. The same John who wrote the Gospel of John also wrote the
Epistles of John. John was one of the twelve disciples. John declared in the First Epistle of John (1:1-2) that the
disciples saw the Word with their own eyes; that they handled the Word (he was not an allusion, but a real Person
with flesh and blood); and that the Word had been with the Father before He was revealed to the disciples. See also
First John 5:7, 20 where John declares that Jesus is the true God and eternal life.
John 1:26-30 Although John the Baptist was born 6 months before Jesus was born in Bethlehem, John says of Jesus
in verse 30, “…he was before me.” Jesus existed as the eternal God before John was conceived. Also, John says of
Jesus in verses 15, 27, and 30 “…he is preferred before me;” Jesus was preferred before John, not because He
worked to be a better person than John, but because He is God.
John 2:24-25 Jesus knew all men and knew what was in man; Jesus is all-knowing (omniscient); only God has that
attribute. See also Matthew 9:4.
John 3:13 Jesus is speaking and says that He is in heaven while He is on the earth: “And no man hath ascended up
to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.” Jesus is everywhere at the
same time (omnipresent); only God has that attribute.
John 5:8-27 The Jews tried to kill Jesus because He “said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with
God.” Jesus then told the Jews that “the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do.”
Jesus as one Person of the Godhead did not act independently of the other two Persons, because our God is one.
The passage contains further proof that Jesus is co-equal with God the Father in power and glory:
1) In John chapter 5, verse 21, Jesus says that just as the Father raises the dead, and quickens them (gives life to
them), so Jesus quickens whom He will. Jesus has the same power over death as the Father.
2) In verse 23 Jesus says that all men should honour the Son as they honour the Father.
3) In verse 22 Jesus says, “For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:” See Acts
10:41-42 which declares Jesus to be the Judge of the living and the dead. Then see Revelation 20:12 where the
name of the Judge is “God.”
John 6:62 Jesus said, “What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?” Jesus told His
listeners that He had been in heaven before He came to this earth. He was not a mere man. [Even before Jesus came
to earth as the flesh and blood Babe in the manger, He appeared to people in Old Testament times. He appeared to
Joshua (see Joshua 5:13-15), and Moses (Exodus 3:4-5, 14), and He was with the three boys in the fiery furnace
(Daniel 3:19-25).]
John 14:7-9 Jesus said, “…he that hath seen me hath seen the Father…”
John 17:5 Jesus prayed to the Father: “And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which
I had with thee before the world was.” In Isaiah 42:8 God says, “I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will
I not give to another…” Yet Jesus asks to be glorified with the Father with the glory He had with the Father before
the world was in existence. Since God will not share His glory with another-----and Jesus shared God’s glory, then
Jesus is God. These two Persons along with the Holy Ghost make up the triune Godhead (the Trinity).
John 20:26-29 After His resurrection Jesus appeared to the disciples and spoke with Thomas: “…reach hither thy
hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing. And Thomas answered and said unto him, My
Lord and my God. Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that
have not seen, and yet have believed.” Thomas called Jesus “God” because that is who Thomas believed He was.
Jesus did not correct Thomas; in fact, He confirmed to Thomas that the belief that would be blessed was the belief
that Jesus was God and that He rose from the dead. See Romans 10:9-10 which says that this belief must be in the
heart in order to be saved. [This is also a good portion of scripture for the cults who believe that Jesus’ body was
not physically resurrected (Jehovah Witnesses, etc.). When Jesus rose from the dead, He had a glorified body that
could go through walls; He ate food with this body; the disciples touched Him to be sure that He was not a spirit.
Jesus returned to heaven bodily.]
Acts 4:12 Referring to Jesus Christ, the Bible says, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other
name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.” (See Hosea 13:4 and Isaiah 43:11 which say
there is no Saviour beside God; Jesus is God!)
Acts 20:28 The Apostle Paul told the Ephesian pastors “to feed the church of God which he hath purchased with his
own blood.” It was the blood of God that was shed on the cross of Calvary.
Romans 14:9-12 “…for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live saith the
Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account
of himself to God.” These verses prove that the judgment of Christ is the judgment of God.
Colossians 2:9 “For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.” The eternal God came to this earth and
took on a body of flesh and blood in order to die for our sins.
I Timothy 3:16 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified
in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.” God came
to this earth in the flesh (Jesus was God in the flesh).
I Timothy 6:14-16 Jesus Christ is King of all kings and Lord of all lords. (Revelation 17:14; 19:11-16; John 1:1-3,
14-17, 29)
Titus 3:4-6 These verses say that God is Saviour; they also say Jesus Christ is Saviour. Compare with Isaiah 43:10-
11 where there is one Saviour. There is only one Saviour, because Jesus Christ is God. See Titus 1:3 and 2:13.
Hebrews 1:1-3 The Father made the worlds by His Son. Jesus is the Creator; the Father is the Creator; and see
Genesis 1:2 where the Spirit of God is the Creator. The Triune God was the Creator. Also, Hebrews 1:3 says that
Jesus is the express image of the person of God and that Jesus upholds all things by the word of His power. Jesus by
Himself purged our sins, making Him our Saviour.
Hebrews 1:6 God the Father wanted all the angels to worship the babe in the manger. See Revelation 22:8-10
where the angel warns John not to worship angels, but to worship God. God the Father wants us to worship the Son,
because the Son is God.
Hebrews 1:8-12 God the Father is speaking to God the Son and addresses him as “O God.” The Father declares
that the Son laid the foundation of the earth and never changes.
Hebrews 11:3 The worlds were framed by the word of God. Jesus is the Word of God (see John 1:1-14 and Rev.
19:11-16.
Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Jesus never changes. Jesus Christ did
not become a god. He has always been God. See Malachi 3:6 where God declares “…I am the LORD, I change
not…”
I Peter 2:21-22 This verse says that Jesus never sinned. See Job 34:10 which says: “…far be it from God, that he
should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.” Jesus was sinless because He was
God in the flesh. See also Hebrews 4:14-15.
I John 3:16 “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us…” God laid down His life
for us. Jesus is God.
I John 5:7 “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these
three are one.” This is the clearest verse in the Bible regarding the Trinity. Jesus is the Word (John 1:1-18).
I John 5:20 “And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know
him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.”
Revelation 1:8,11,13-18 (all verses together) In verses 17 and 18 Jesus is speaking: “…Fear not, I am the first and
the last: I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore…” In verse 11 we see that “the first
and the last” is called the “Alpha and Omega.” In verse 8 we see that the “Alpha and Omega” is called the
“Almighty.” Therefore, Jesus is the Almighty God. For further proof that “the first and the last” is the Almighty God
(the beginning and the ending), see Revelation 22:13.
Revelation 1:18 Jesus has the keys of hell and of death. He has the power over death (Luke 7:14-15) and over hell.
No one but God has such power.
Revelation 17:14 The Lamb is the King of kings and Lord of lords. See John 1:29 where John the Baptist declared
Jesus to be “the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.” See Revelation 19:11-16.
Revelation 19:11-16 “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called
Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head
were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. And he was clothed with a vesture
dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon
white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should
smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of Almighty God. And he
hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.” See Psalms 24:
10 which says, “Who is this King of glory? The LORD of hosts, he is the King of glory.” See Psalms 47:7 which
says, “For God is the King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.” This King is none other than Jesus
Christ, the Word of God. See John 1:1-14. See Revelation 17:14. See I Timothy 6:14-16.
Revelation 20:12 “And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God…and the dead were judged…” God is
the judge. According to Acts 10:42 and John 5:22, Jesus is the Judge. Therefore, Jesus is God.
Revelation 21:22-23 Speaking of the new heavenly city: “And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty
and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon to shine in it: for the glory
of God did lighten it; and the Lamb is the light thereof.” In these verses we see that both the Lord God Almighty and
the Lamb are one temple for they are “one.” We also see that the Lamb is the glory of God. Since God will not
share his glory with another (Isaiah 42:8), Jesus is God.
Revelation 22:8,9 In these verses John is warned not to worship angels but to worship God (Revelation 19:10). In
Revelation 14:6-7 another angel declares that God should receive glory and that the one to be worshipped is the one
who made heaven and earth and sea. Jesus is the Creator, and He should receive the glory and worship. In Acts 10:
25,26, Cornelius falls down and worships Peter. Peter then rebukes Cornelius by saying, “Stand up; I myself also am
a man.” Peter knew that man was not to be worshipped; he knew only God was to be worshipped. There are at
least 11 accounts in the gospels in which Jesus received worship: Matthew 2:11; 8:2; 9:18; 14:33; 15:25; 20:20; 28:
9,17; Mark 5:6; Luke 24:52; and John 9:38. Jesus would not have received worship unless He was God (Exodus 34:
14).
